The
Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (PA) program at Carroll was granted Accreditation-Continued status by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA). This accreditation status continues through September 2033, the maximum time granted for reaccreditation. The decision is based on a variety of factors:
- The program's application and appendices
- The report of the site visit team
- The program’s response to the site visit team’s observations
- The program’s accreditation history
Preparation of the application, appendices (including a self-assessment report) and the site visit took over a year. Those in the PA program are extremely proud of their work and the program's accomplishment of continued reaccreditation for 10 years. The ARC-PA is one of the strictest accreditation agencies regularly placing several programs on academic probation throughout the country. In the reaccreditation process for this last round, UW-Madison and Carroll's PA program are the only ones to receive continuing reaccreditation in our region.

Carroll University’s
Reading Teacher and Dyslexia Interventionist programs have been accredited by the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), making it the first institution in Wisconsin to earn this prestigious recognition.
IDA accreditation is a mark of excellence that signifies a program's adherence to the highest standards in the science of reading and structured literacy. This rigorous accreditation process ensures that Carroll University’s programs meet or exceed standards developed by experts in the field, aligning with IDA’s Knowledge and Practice Standards for Teachers of Reading (KPS). This alignment provides a comprehensive framework for developing curriculum that prepares educators to effectively teach reading.
Furthermore, IDA accreditation allows Carroll University to serve as an ACT 20 provider, offering professional development in literacy for educators. This designation enhances the university’s ability to support teachers across Wisconsin in their efforts to improve literacy outcomes for all students.

The
Ph.D. in Leadership and Organizational Development program received approval from the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), allowing Carroll to now formally offer Ph.D. level programs. The launch of Carroll’s first Ph.D. is in Leadership and Organizational Development which aims to cultivate leaders who are equipped to navigate and transform complex organizational environments with respect, compassion and resilience.
Carroll’s new innovative program is designed to empower visionary leaders and change agents by committing to the highest levels of scholarship, research and practice. It offers a sophisticated understanding of leadership dynamics, organizational behavior and the strategic skills necessary to address the complexities of contemporary workplaces. This professionally focused degree maintains the rigor of a traditional doctoral program while preparing leaders for various organizational contexts.
Additional notes:
- Our Master of Occupational Therapy (MOT) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) programs completed their reaccreditation this past spring by hosting site visitors from their respective fields. While both site visits were exceptionally well received, each program will be notified of final reaccreditation status later this fall.
- The Department of Public Instruction (DPI) approved accreditation to Carroll to offer a District Administrator (Superintendent) license.
